Ben Berlin - A Famous but Forgotten Estonian Born Musician

Ben Berlin (real name Hermann Biek) was a jazz musician born in Tallinn in 1896. He founded the Ben Berlin Dance Orchestra in Germany in 1928 and produced records with Deutsche Grammophon including "Küss mich und morgen vergiss mich" and "Roses of Yesterday".

Hermann left Germany in 1933, first moving to Holland then Austria and France before finally settling in England. He worked day and night composing his music and died sitting at his desk in London in 1944.

A good biography of his work (written in German) can be found here: http://grammophon-platten.de/page.php?152
